12,380 new Covid-19 cases, 30 deaths

MALAYSIA posted 12,380 Covid-19 cases yesterday, a drop from 14,692 cases the day before as new infection cases continued to decline for three days in a row.

According to data from Health Ministry’s GitHub portal, the number of imported cases recorded yesterday was 462, a jump from 218 the day before, while the remaining 11,918 cases were local transmissions.

The new cases brought the country’s total number of infections since the onset of the pandemic to 4.24 million.

Selangor, the most populous state, logged 7,613 cases while Kuala Lumpur came in second with 909.

Other states and territories that saw new cases were Penang (572), Johor (510), Perak (491), Negri Sembilan (412), Sarawak (351), Kedah (330), Pahang (287), Terengganu (235), Malacca (219), Kelantan (184), Sabah (167), Putrajaya (52), Perlis (26) and Labuan (22).

Fatalities saw a decline yesterday as the country recorded 30 Covid-19 deaths, with 11 pronounced dead on arrival (DOA).

Kedah and Perak logged the most deaths, with seven each, while Selangor and Kelantan recorded three each.

Pahang and Penang had two cases each, while Johor, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Sarawak, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur reported one each.

No deaths were reported in Sabah, Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya.

The death toll is now at 35,099, of which 7,408 are DOA cases.

On Covid-19 deaths, the ministry had clarified that daily reported deaths do not take place in a single day but within the last 72 hours. – April 4, 2022.
