MALAYSIA reported 30,787 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, up slightly from 30,246 the day before.
According to the CovidNow website, this brings the total number of cases to 3,741,986.
The country also saw a drop in new Covid-19 deaths to 70 cases from 113 previously, bringing the toll to 33,567.
The country recorded 19 dead-on-arrival cases.
Selangor posted the highest number of daily infections yesterday, at 7,525, followed by Kedah (2,927) and Kuala Lumpur (2,919).
The others are Penang (2,773), Johor (2,220), Negri Sembilan (2,115), Sarawak (1,963), Kelantan (1,637), Pahang (1,601), Perak (1,469), Sabah (1,154), Terengganu (1,236), Malacca (732), Labuan (129), Perlis (248) and Putrajaya (139).
Of the 70 deaths, Perak reported the highest number, at 20, followed by Selangor (11), Johor (10), Kelantan (9), Kedah (7), Negri Sembilan and Sabah (4 each), Pahang (3) and Perlis and Terengganu (1 each).
There were no deaths in Malacca, Penang, Sarawak and the federal territories.
As of midnight, there were 314,420 active cases. Of this number, 389 were in intensive care units, with 229 requiring respiratory assistance.
