55 new Covid-19 deaths, fresh infections down to 27,435

MALAYSIA’S Covid-19 daily cases fell to 27,435 yesterday after a three-day streak of infections hovering above 30,000, the Health Ministry reported.

The fresh cases take the cumulative number of infections to 3.62 million.

Meanwhile, the ministry reported 55 new Covid-19 deaths, of which 16 were classified as dead on arrival (DOA).

The latest number of fatalities brought the coronavirus death toll to 33,228, while the total number of DOA stands at 6,869.

Of the record number of infections logged, Selangor was the biggest contributor with 7,012 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,685) and Kedah (2,721).

Other states and territories reporting new coronavirus cases were Kuala Lumpur (2,685), Johor (2,348), Pahang (1,844), Penang (1,663), Negri Sembilan (1,565), Sabah (1,515), Kelantan (1,279), Perak (1,262), Sarawak (1,244), Terengganu (918), Malacca (796), Perlis (206), Labuan (206) and Putrajaya (171).

Of the deaths, Kedah reported the highest deaths at 12, followed by Penang (8), Johor (7), Terengganu (6), Kelantan (5), Perak (4), Selangor (4), Malacca (2), Negeri Sembilan (2), Perlis (2), Pahang (1), Sabah (1) and Sarawak (1).

The fatality rate stood at 0.2% and the cumulative fatality rate, at 0.9%. – March 7, 2022.
