Active Covid cases drop to 34,534

MALAYSIA logged 2,521 new Covid-19 cases against 4,695 recoveries yesterday, bringing down the number of active cases in the country to 34,534.  

This is the first time in 12 days that recoveries have outnumbered new cases.  

The new infections brought the national caseload to 4,929,972.  

Eight coronavirus-linked fatalities were reported yesterday, bringing the death toll to 36,495.  

Perak and Penang recorded two deaths each, while Johor, Kedah, Sabah and Selangor had one each.  

Of the new cases, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur continued to register the most number of daily infections with 879 and 461 cases respectively.  

Other states and territories reporting new cases are Negri Sembilan (179), Sabah (178), Penang (132), Kelantan (131), Kedah (118), Malacca (100), Perak (88), Pahang (77), Johor (69), Terengganu (57), Sarawak (43), Perlis (5), and Putrajaya (4).  

Labuan was the only territory that did not register any new infections.  

Among the active cases, 32,766 people are in home quarantine (94.9%) and 1,695 in hospitals (5.1%).    

There were 73 patients in intensive care, 47 of whom required respiratory assistance. – November 8, 2022.
