2,067 new Covid cases, 6 deaths

MALAYSIA logged 2,067 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the national caseload since the onset of the pandemic to 4,795,009.  

Six deaths were also reported yesterday, with one from Kuala Lumpur declared dead on arrival (DOA).  

Selangor registered two fatalities, while Penang, Kedah and Johor had one each.  

Of the new infections, Selangor posted the greatest number of cases with 589, followed by Kuala Lumpur (454) and Sabah (160).  

Perak recorded 145 cases, Sarawak (132), Negri Sembilan (90), Kedah (80), Malacca (74), Johor (69), Kelantan (67), Pahang (62), Penang (62), Putrajaya (49), Terengganu (27), Labuan (4) and Perlis (3).  

Active cases dropped further to 27,328 yesterday as 2,279 people recovered from the disease. 

Among active cases, 25,963 (95%) were in home quarantine, 19 (0.1%) at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres, and 1,277 (4.9%) in hospitals. 

There were 69 patients in the intensive care units, 40 of whom required respiratory assistance. – September 7, 2022.
