JELI MP Zahari Kechik today denied he was threatened and bribed to declare support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
“There is no interference of political brokers or intervention as alleged. I am telling all parties to stop uttering such slanderous statements.
“I will not hesitate to take legal action if certain parties continue to slander me,” he said in a media conference in Jeli today.
In the 2022 general election, Zahari of Bersatu won the Jeli seat on a Perikatan Nasional (PN) ticket.
Zahari reiterated his support for Anwar to safeguard the interests of his constituents.
“I have not received any letters from the (Bersatu) disciplinary board over my decision. I am ready to accept any punishment,” he said.
On November 8, Zahari declared his support for Anwar, one day after Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, also from Bersatu, made a similar move. – Bernama, November 16, 2023.
