THE Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council has removed at least five political banners in areas under its jurisdiction for violating election campaign regulations.
Council president Shadan Othman said the council has to act as the banners hung during the Malacca election campaign period are capable of triggering untoward incidences among the community.
“We will continue to monitor (the situation) so that similar banners are not hung by irresponsible parties. We want to prevent untoward incidences in the polls.”
He said there has been no compound issued for the banner violations, adding that a billboard at a road junction in Taman Ara Batu Berendam has also been brought down due to public complaints and safety reasons. – Bernama, November 16, 2021.
