PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) has its own way of approaching voters and does not need to follow the methods of other parties contesting in the Malacca polls, said coalition election director Mohamed Azmin Ali.

PN does not need to announce its chief minister candidate should it succeeds in forming the state government, he added.

“We have to find new ways to explain our manifesto and reach out to voters. We will inform them of our achievements in caring for the health of the people and restoring the economy in the past two years. This is our priority.”

The international trade and industry minister said the people want to know PN policies and initiatives that will be carried out if it is given the mandate to lead Malacca.

A total of 11,557 policemen, soldiers and their spouses will cast their ballots during early voting today, which will be held until 5.30pm.

The Election Commission has set polling day on November 20.

The Malacca polls were called following the dissolution of the state assembly on October 4, brought about by four assemblymen who withdrew support for then chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali.

A total of 112 candidates are contesting the 28 state seats – Barisan Nasional (28), Pakatan Harapan (28), PN (28), Putra (5), Parti Perikatan India Muslim Nasional (1) and Independents (22). – Bernama, November 16, 2021.
