EDUCATION Ministry employees are believed to constitute the biggest group of civil servants who have yet to get the Covid-19 jab, said the Public Service Department (PSD).

PSD director-general Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman said the department is updating unvaccinated civil servant data, and this process is expected to be completed within two weeks.

PSD is matching the data of unvaccinated civil servants using the Human Resource Management Information System and MySejahtera, he added.

“The data is being updated, and PSD will relook into the reasons given by these civil servants for not wanting to get vaccinated.”

Previously, the department had issued a circular mandating civil servants, including teachers, to get vaccinated before November 1 or risk facing disciplinary action, including possible dismissal.

Education Minister Radzi Jidin said school authorities have been authorised to conduct checks to determine if teachers possessed vaccination certificates to ensure they complied with the circular on November 1.

Khairul Adib said to date, no disciplinary action has been taken against any civil servant for refusing the Covid-19 jab.

“We understand that there are those who are concerned about getting vaccinated.

“Some do not want to get the jab because they are cancer patients, have just given birth or contracted Covid-19. These groups will be given an exemption.”

Department heads need to make good decisions regarding this issue to ensure there is no service delivery disruption to the community, he added. – Bernama, November 8, 2021.
