Three shot dead in southern Thailand

THREE civilians, including a 73-year-old man, were found shot dead at a house in Kg Bendan Jambu, in a sub-district of Tunyangdaen, Pattani, southern Thailand, yesterday.

Pattani police chief Lieutenant General Piyawat Chalermsri said police received a report on the incident about 7.40pm.

“Police investigations revealed that four armed men on two motorcycles had stopped in front of the house and opened fire on the victims,” he told reporters today.

The victims were identified as Nasri Chekmaen, 32, Hasanah Hamad, 29, and Yusuf Niklah, 73.

Chalermsri said the bodies had been sent to Tunyangdaen for a post-mortem to be carried out.

He said police found four spent shells of 9mm bullets at the scene, and investigations were ongoing to determine the motive behind the incident. – Bernama, January 11, 2018.
