SELANGOR and Kuala Lumpur are among the eight states and territories going under a conditional movement control order (CMCO) from Friday to March 18, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

With this decision, the ban on inter-district travel is also lifted, he said.

Other states where movement restrictions have been eased are Negri Sembilan, Johor, Penang, Kedah, Perak and Kelantan.

“We decided to lift the MCO and to replace it with CMCO following a briefing from Health Ministry,” he told a press conference for official media.

These states had been under the MCO since January.

States and territories that are under the recovery MCO (RMCO) for the same period are Malacca, Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah, Labuan and Putrajaya.

“The order will commence starting March 5 to March 18 except for Sarawak which will end on March 15,” the defence minister added.

Also under the RMCO is Perlis, the only state that was in the recovery phase prior to today’s announcement because it has recorded few Covid-19 cases.

Ismail said new and active Covid-19 cases have dropped.

“The Health Ministry has informed the National Security Council that cases have dropped and that the situation has improved.” – March 2, 2021.
