Partial lockdown in KL and Sabah extended to December 20

THE conditional movement-control order (CMCO) in Kuala Lumpur and Sabah, which was set to end tomorrow, has been extended to December 20, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

CMCO for Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan, Johor and Labuan will end tomorrow except for certain areas in the respective states. 

The senior minister said the decision to end the CMCO was based on the recommendation of the Health Ministry.

Ismail Sabri said that CMCO for Selangor was in force until December 20 except for Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor districts.

He said if the CMCO continues it will affect the country’s economic recovery and gross domestic product.

“It is expected that the country’s GDP will lose RM300 million a day if CMCO continues to be implemented.

“This in turn will result in a decline in the labour market and a decrease in household spending, increased investment uncertainty, loss of jobs, business closure and others.

“Therefore, the government is careful and needs to consider all aspects in formulating any approach to create a balance between maintaining public health and the impact on the economy.”

He said that CMCO for Kedah has ended expect for Kulim, which has been extended to December 20.

“In Penang, the CMCO has ended except for the Southwest and Northeast districts, that is extended to December 20.

“However, EMCO at the flats in Jalan Paya Terubong, Relau and Desa Bistari, Batu Uban has been extended to December 20.”

“In Perak the CMCO has ended except for Teja and Changkat Jong with Zon B and Zon C and Taman Meru 2C being placed under the EMCO, Immigration Detention Depot and quarters until Dec 20.”

He said that for Kelantan the CMCO has ended except for Kota Bharu, Machang, Tanah Merah and  Pasir Mas that has been extended to December 20 and the Madrasah Ad-Diniah Al Falahiah, Kg Dalam Huma, Bukit Awang and Pasir Puteh placed under EMCO.

“CMCO for Negri Sembilan has ended except for Seremban and Port Dickson.

“In Johor the CMCO has been lifted except for Kota Tinggi, Johor Baru, Batu Pahat dan Kulai.” – December 5, 2020.
