THE Conference of Malay Rulers will meet soon to decide on Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s proposals, said Istana Negara today.

However, Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin did not reveal what the cabinet had proposed during the meeting with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah yesterday.

“The king met Muhyiddin at Istana Abdul Aziz in Kuantan at 5pm yesterday.

“Muhyiddin requested the meeting after the cabinet’s special meeting in the morning,” said Fadil in a statement today.

Fadil said that the meeting lasted for one-and-a-half hours.

“Al-Sultan Abdullah was briefed about the decisions made by the cabinet.

“The king understands the need to battle the Covid-19 pandemic, is concerned about recent developments and, as such, has decided to consult the Malay rulers in Istana Negara,” said Fadil, who added that the king hopes that everyone will be patient while the rulers make their decision.

“The public is advised not to speculate, which could cause panic, and disrupt the peace and harmony of the country,” said Fadil.

He added that the king wanted everyone to play their part to fight the Covid-19 pandemic by adhering to standard operating procedures.

It was reported yesterday that Muhyiddin intended to propose a state of emergency to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic amid political instability. – October 24, 2020.
