PUTRAJAYA has approved a 15 to 20% increase in the Entrepreneur Development Ministry’s total budget allocation for next year, its minister Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof said.
Under the 2020 Budget, the government had allocated RM539 million for the ministry.
“Many people have emphasised just how important it was for the ministry to get the additional funds to be able to implement programmes through various agencies, including the National Entrepreneur Group Economic Fund (Tekun Nasional),” he said at Tekun’s 20th anniversary celebration in Kuala Lumpur today.
Redzuan said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had agreed to increase the ministry’s allocation, adding that the funds would be channelled to the agencies according to the merit of the programmes.
However, he declined to disclose the actual amount. – Bernama, December 3, 2019.
