THE parents of autistic six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin will be charged at the Petaling Jaya sessions court today, according to their lawyer.
Counsel Fahmi Abd Moin said the parents will be brought to the Petaling Jaya Court Complex today to be charged.
The couple aged 29 have been under a 13-day remand order (which ended today) to facilitate the investigation of their son’s murder case.
Media personnel have been waiting at the court complex from as early as 7.30 am and access to the court has been restricted.
Zayn Rayyan’s family members are also present.
His parents were arrested on May 31. Yesterday, police also arrested his grandparents.
The grandparents, said Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar, were detained to assist investigations into the boy’s murder.
Last December 6, the body of six-year-old Zayn was found lying in a stream close to his home at Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai in Petaling Jaya. He was reported missing the day before.
The child is believed to have been murdered after a post-mortem found self-defence wounds on his body. – June 13, 2024
