MOSQUES and surau today are filled with worshippers, marking the first time in three years Raya is being celebrated without a special Covid-19 standard operating procedure.

IN KUALA LUMPUR, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah performed Raya prayers at Masjid Negara.

The royal couple arrived at the mosque at 8.15am, accompanied by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

IN SELANGOR, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah joined thousands of congregants for Raya prayers at 8.13am at Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque, Bukit Jelutong.

Most worshippers wore face masks and brought their own mats as recommended by the Health Ministry.

IN KELANTAN, Sultan Muhammad V, accompanied by Crown Prince Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra, joined congregants for Raya prayers at 9.10am at Al-Ismaili Mosque in Bandar Baru Pasir Pekan, Tumpat.

Also in attendance was Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob.

IN PERLIS, Regent Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail performed Raya prayers at Dataran Istiadat Istana Arau. He was accompanied by Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

IN TERENGGANU, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin and Sultanah Nur Zahirah visited Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Mosque in Ladang, Kuala Terengganu.

Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, state leaders, and more than 3,000 congregants joined the prayers at the mosque.

IN KEDAH, Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah and Sultanah Maliha Tengku Ariff performed their Raya prayers at Zahir Mosque, Alor Star. The royal couple was accompanied by Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

IN SABAH, Chief Minister Hajiji Mohd Noor joined 500 others at the Hajiji Noor Mosque in Tuaran at 7.15am for Raya prayers.

Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Juhar Mahiruddin and his wife Norlidah RM Jasni will hold an open house at Istana Sri Kinabalu tomorrow, while the state government will hold one on April 30 at the Sabah International Convention Centre.

IN SARAWAK, Yang Dipertua Negeri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Premier Abang Johari Openg performed Raya prayers at Jamek Mosque, Petra Jaya.

Taib and Abang Johari are both hosting open houses today, with the former at Astana Negeri Sarawak (10.30am to 4.30pm) and the latter at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (10.30am to 4pm). 

IN NEGRI SEMBILAN, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, accompanied by Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun, joined Raya prayers at Tuanku Munawir Royal Mosque, Kuala Pilah, at 8.30am. 

IN LABUAN, MP Suhaili Abd Rahman joined Raya prayers with more than 500 congregants including local community leaders at the Kampung Patau-Patau II Mosque at 7.30am. 

IN PAHANG, Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah rang in the first day of Shawal at Sultan Ahmad Shah Mosque in Pekan.

Tengku Hassanal will attend the menteri besar’s open house at Kuantan City Complex this afternoon. 

IN PERAK, Sultan Nazrin Shah performed was at Ubudiah Mosque, Kuala Kangsar, at 8.45am, accompanied by Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah for Raya prayers.

IN MALACCA, Yang Dipertua Negeri Mohd Ali Rustam joined nearly 10,000 residents at Al Azim Mosque in Bukit Palah for Raya prayers at 8.30 am.

IN PENANG, over 5,000 Muslims performed Raya prayers with the Yang Dipertua Negeri Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak at the State Mosque at 8.30am. 

Fuzi will host an open house at his official residence, which will see the attendance of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and other state leaders.

IN JOHOR, Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim performed Raya prayers at Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque, Johor Baru, with over 1,000 congregants.

Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi and other state leaders were also in attendance.
