THE government does not plan on introducing a special standard operating procedure (SOP) to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during Raya.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said this is because the number of Covid-19 cases in the country is under control.

“It’s true the number of Covid-19 cases has increased, but it is still under control.

“We need not panic despite there being an increase in cases (including) the Omicron sub-variant. Maybe it is contagious, but its level of severity is still low,” she told a media conference after visiting Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim in Kulai today.

Also present was Deputy Communications and Digital Minister Teo Nie Ching, who is Kulai MP.

She however encouraged people, especially those with symptoms, to don face masks.

She said the replacement for Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who retires tomorrow, will be announced soon. – Bernama, April 20, 2023.
