KLANG MP V. Ganabatirau has come under fire from his DAP colleague Teng Chang Khim for making “wild accusations” that the assemblymen in the Selangor constituency are not doing their jobs.
Ganabatirau and Teng are party leaders as well as state exco members in Selangor.
Ganabatirau replaced the popular Charles Santiago, who did not stand in the election. Ganabatirau is also the Kota Kemuning assemblyman.
Teng is the assemblymen for Bandar Baru Klang, one of the three state seats under thr Klang constituency. The other two are Pandamaran and Pelabuhan Klang. All three seats are held by Pakatan Harapan.
Ganabatirau provoked Teng yesterday with a Facebook post warning that floodwaters were rising in Klang. The post was accompanied by photos of a floodgate in an undisclosed location. He went on to accuse some of the state reps and councillors of not doing their job to prevent floods.
“Klang has three state reps and no fewer than 14 councillors but honestly besides two reps and three councillors, the rest are out of radar,” Ganabatirau said.
He said he was trying to teach the assemblymen and councillors to prioritise.
Teng did not respond kindly to Ganabatirau.
“What kind of MP is this? He’s not even sworn in but is already reporting on FB from his armchair at home and wildly accusing his PH colleagues of not doing their jobs. Does he think that he won on his own merit in Klang?” Teng said.
He also slammed Ganabatirau for painting an inaccurate picture of the Klang flood situation.
Referring to the floodgate which Ganabatirau had posted, Teng said the gate was actually in Sri Muda, Shah Alam, and not in Klang.
“Why did you give the false impression that it was in Klang and maliciously attack your own PH colleagues?” Teng said.
In a reply to a comment, Teng also defended his service as a state rep, saying he had solved critical issues in the area as well as allocated funds to help the people.
“I spent 10 years getting rid of the Berkeley Corner illegal building and MPK is constructing a new retention pond. A few more retention ponds along the LRT lines are in progress; hopefully they will resolve or mitigate the flood problems in the affected areas,” Teng said.
Ganabatirau has since stated on social media that the offending post was put up by one of his page administrators.
“The post has been removed together with the admin. Kindly ignore the posts,” he said.
On the general election campaign, Ganabatirau pledged to resolve the flood issue plaguing the Klang constituency. – December 11, 2022.
