MALAYSIA recorded 2,256 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the cumulative number of infections in the country since the onset of the pandemic to 4.88 million.

Three deaths – two in Negri Sembilan and one in Selangor – were reported, taking the death toll to 36,440.

New cases were reported in Selangor (690), Kuala Lumpur (612), Perak (211), Sabah (125), Penang (107), Negri Sembilan (81), Sarawak (79), Malacca (70), Kedah (69), Kelantan (52), Johor (51), Pahang (46), Putrajaya (31), Terengganu (23) and Perlis (9).

No new cases were registered in Labuan. 

The number of active cases rose to 26,526, with 1,363 people recovering from the virus.

There are 25,425 people in home quarantine (95.8%) and 1,054 in hospitals (4.2%).   

There were 47 patients in intensive care, 17 of whom required respiratory assistance. – October 22, 2022.
