MOH reports 2,111 new Covid cases

THE Ministry of Health reported 2,111 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the total number of infections since the onset of the pandemic to 4.82 million.

Six deaths were also recorded yesterday – four in Perak and two in Selangor – bringing the national death toll to 36,330.

More than half of yesterday’s cases were logged in the Klang Valley; comprising Selangor (608 cases), Kuala Lumpur (474) and Putrajaya (29).

There were also cases reported in Perak (216), Sabah (152), Sarawak (102), Negri Sembilan (92), Kedah (77), Kelantan (73), Malacca (73), Penang (71), Pahang (56), Johor (40), Terengganu (35), Perlis (10) and Labuan (3).

The number of active cases increased to 25,327 yesterday, while 1,493 people recovered from the virus. 

Some 24,169 (95.4%) of cases were in home quarantine and 1,101 (4.6%) in hospitals. 

There were 57 patients in intensive care, 37 of whom required respiratory assistance. – September 22, 2022.
