MOH reports 4,071 new Covid cases

MALAYSIA logged 4,071 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the national caseload to 4.75 million. 

Seven deaths were also reported yesterday, one of which was classified dead on arrival (DOA). 

Selangor also posted the highest number of new cases yesterday (1,456), followed by Kuala Lumpur (728), Negri Sembilan (320), Sabah (281), Perak (275), Sarawak (182), Malacca (152), Penang (143), Johor (117), Pahang (100), Kedah (91), Kelantan (77), Putrajaya (74), Terengganu (59), Labuan (10) and Perlis (6).

There were 42,476 active cases yesterday as 3,289 people recovered from the disease.

Selangor registered three deaths, including the sole DOA case. Kedah, Perak, Penang and Sarawak each reported one death.

The death toll now stands at 36,124, with 7,677 fatalities registered as DOA.

Among active cases, 40,826 (96.1%) people were under home quarantine, 27 (0.1%) were at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres, and 1,542 (3.8%) were in hospitals.

There were 81 patients in intensive care, 45 of whom required respiratory assistance. – August 19, 2022.
