THE Ministry of Health logged 1,873 fresh Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the cumulative total number of infections since the onset of the pandemic to 4.87 million. 

Three Covid-19 linked fatalities were reported, two in Johor and one in Sabah, taking the national death toll to 36,426.

Of the new infections yesterday, Selangor posted 699 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (412), Sabah (133), Perak (101), Negri Sembilan (79), Kedah (75), Sarawak (72), Johor (61), Penang (60), Kelantan (49), Malacca (45), Pahang (29), Putrajaya (26), Terengganu (25) and Perlis (7). 

Labuan was the only territory that did not report any new cases. 

Active cases rose to 23,425 yesterday, with 1,515 people recovering from the virus.   

There are 22,360 people in home quarantine (95.5%) and 1,022 in hospital (4.5%).   

Some 43 patients were in intensive care, 12 of whom required respiratory assistance. – October 19, 2022.
