POLICE will take action against a driver who obstructed an ambulance at Km 292 of the North-South Expressway (northbound) after the incident went viral today.

Kampar police chief Mohamad Nazri Daud said the driver and owner of the Honda CRV came to assist in the investigation at the district police headquarters at 5pm today.

“Further investigation found that the driver, a 62-year-old man, has a hearing condition called tinnitus-acoustic neuroma. He has been suffering from this condition since three years ago.

“He is still receiving treatment for the condition from a specialist at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.”

The viral video shows a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on the right lane of the expressway and blocking the path of an ambulance – honking and sirens blaring. The ambulance is then forced to use the left lane to overtake the SUV.

The incident caught the attention of Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who shared the video on his Twitter account and described the driver as selfish. – Bernama, May 15, 2022.

  • How came he is still driving if he can hear anything? Surely, the blaring light should be enough to make him aware of the ambulance.
