MALAYSIA has scrapped the need for people to scan the MySejahtera QR code when entering premises or at any public place from May 1, Khairy Jamaluddin said today.

The health minister said that individuals would now be allowed to enter all premises, regardless of their vaccination status.

“The management of the premises would still need to check the risk status of individuals in the MySejahtera application.

“Individuals with “High-Risk” status on the MySejahtera app for example positive cases and individuals who have been given a Home Surveillance Order (HSO), are not allowed to enter the premises,” Khairy said at a press conference today.

Although there is no need to scan upon entry, Khairy insisted that MySejahtera is still important for reporting Covid-19 test results and home surveillance orders.

Meanwhile, Khairy also encouraged users to activate the trace function, which he said is still vital in assisting the ministry in the control and prevention of the infectious disease.

Besides this, Khairy said that the app’s Covid-19 hotspot tracker will be converted to cater for other infectious diseases such as rabies; measles; hand, foot, and mouth disease; and dengue. – April 27, 2022.

  • ....The management of the premises would still need to check the risk status of individuals in the MySejahtera application..."

Why impose this obligation on the management of the premises? Shouldn't this be the responsibility of the individual to ensure that they comply with the SOPs in relation to their risk status? If the enforcement authorities catch them in breach of the relevant SOPs, that individual alone bears the penalty.

Imposing the obligation on the management is just an easy way out for the MOH and enforcement agencies. Just what do you expect the management of the premises to do? Most would be confused with the changing status of the SOPs and its difficult to keep track unless one is pretty well educated.
