THE Court of Appeal today sentenced a man to 12 year’s prison and four strokes of the cane for attempting to rape a woman, forcing her to perform oral sex on him and robbing her.

The three-judge panel upheld Feezree Ferdause’s conviction for three offences committed on the customer service officer in Seksyen 13, Shah Alam, Selangor, on September 7, 2014.

Justice Kamaludin Md Said, who chaired the panel, however, allowed the accused’s appeal for reduction of his jail term from 14 to 12 years and from seven to four strokes of the cane.

The court issued a warrant of committal to commit the 29-year-old to prison from today.

Feezree earlier obtained a stay of execution at the High Court, and was allowed bail of RM45,000 with two sureties pending disposal of his appeal.

The court maintained the 12-year jail term for the attempted rape, but ordered the accused to be caned twice. The Sessions Court had ordered three.

The 14-year jail term for the offence of committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature was reduced to 12, and the accused is ordered to be caned twice instead of four.

The court maintained the eight-year jail term for the robbery offence.

Feezree is to serve the prison sentences concurrently.

According to the facts of the case, the victim was parking her car at a car park of an apartment building when the accused approached her and asked for directions to Block D.

Feezree then managed to open the car door and pushed the victim to the passenger seat.

Feezree was represented by a team of lawyers led by Fakhrul Redha Paridul Adras, while deputy public prosecutor Mohd Khushairy Ibrahim appeared for the prosecution. – Bernama, April 8, 2022.
