LIOW TIONG LAI is requesting the Health Ministry to upgrade Bentong Hospital, which has a capacity of 152 beds.

The Bentong MP said the matter needed to be considered to cater for more patients especially those undergoing dialysis treatment.

He said although the hospital now had more than 30 dialysis machines compared to only four in the early days of the establishment of the haemodialysis unit, he was made to understand that the number was inadequate.

“I hope the number of dialysis machines will be increased so that more patients can undergo the treatment at the government hospital and need not wait for a long time as the machines need to be temporarily rested after completing a dialysis process.

“I hope the ministry can consider increasing the number of dialysis centres in Chemomoi because the distance is quite far for the patients to go to Bentong Hospital,” he said after making a visit to the hospital yesterday organised by the Anih Berhad concession company in conjunction with the Chinese New Year. – Bernama, February 11, 2018.
