34.9% of children 5-11 given Covid vaccine

A TOTAL of 1.23 million (34.9%) children aged 5 to 11 have received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children as of yesterday.

According to the CovidNow website, 2.84 million (91.4%) adolescents aged 12 to 17 are fully vaccinated and 2.94 million (94.6%) have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

A total of 15.4 million (65.7%) adults have received their booster, while 22.9 million (97.5%) are fully vaccinated and 23.2 million (98.7%) have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The inoculation exercise dispensed 40,418 vaccine doses yesterday, of which 18,273 are first doses, 1,709 are second doses and 20,436 are booster shots. The programme has dispensed a total of 68.4 million doses so far.

According to the Health Ministry’s GitHub portal, 85 Covid-19 deaths were recorded yesterday.

Johor claimed the highest number with 18 cases, followed by Perak (17), Selangor (15), Kedah (10), Penang (5), Pahang (4), Malacca (4), Kelantan (3), Kuala Lumpur (3), Sabah (2), Sarawak (2), Terengganu (1) and Putrajaya (1). – Bernama, March 20, 2022.
