Klang Valley tops number of Covid-19 infections, logs 4,854 cases

THE Klang Valley reported the highest number of Covid-19 infections yesterday, logging 4,854 cases out of a total of 17,134, the Health Ministry’s GitHub raw data repository showed.

Selangor logged the highest number of cases at 3,582, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,068 cases while Putrajaya reported 204 infections.

After the Klang Valley, Sabah reported the highest number of cases at 3,333, followed by Johor with 2,321 cases.

Other states that reported cases are Kedah (1,569), Kelantan (1,222), Malacca (347), Negri Sembilan (618), Pahang (739), Perak (395), Perlis (152), Penang (1,010), Sarawak (184), Terengganu (327) and Labuan (63).

With the addition of the new cases, active cases now total 94,515.

Of which, 83,906 (88.8%) were on home quarantine, 5,405 (5.7%) in government quarantine centres and 5,077 (5.4%) were hospitalised.

A total of 147 people were being treated in the intensive care unit with 79 of them requiring ventilatory support.

Nationwide, the hospital utilisation rate stood at 69.9% with 50.2% used for Covid-19.

The number of admissions stood at 1,699 yesterday according to CovidNow.

There were 439 admissions in the Klang Valley, with a bulk of it, 359 admissions, in Selangor.

Kuala Lumpur logged 54 admissions, Putrajaya 26.

Meanwhile, Johor logged 402 admissions, Kedah (54), Kelantan (103), Malacca (29), Negri Sembilan (75), Pahang (42), Perak (101), Perlis (18), Penang (38), Sabah (248), Sarawak (120), Terengganu (27) and Labuan (3).

Despite the high number of infections, deaths remained low.

Nine deaths were reported yesterday with four pronounced dead on arrival.

Perak and Sabah logged two deaths each, while Johor, Kedah, Negri Sembilan, Pahang and Selangor reported one death each.

No fatalities were reported in Kelantan, Malacca, Perlis, Penang, Sarawak, Terengganu, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya. – February 10, 2022.
