3,764 new Covid-19 cases, highest in 3 weeks

The Health Ministry says fresh Covid-19 cases have hit the highest since December 30, 2021. The country logged 3,764 new infections as of noon today. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, January 20, 2022.

MALAYSIA reported a spike in coronavirus infections as the country logged 3,764 fresh cases as of noon today, Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The number of cases reported today is the highest in the past 21 days. On December 30, 2021, the Health Ministry registered 3,997 cases.

The nationwide number of Covid-19 infections since the onset of the epidemic is now at 2,820,927.

Case breakdown according to states will be uploaded on the CovidNow website after midnight.

Noor Hisham said the infection rate nationwide stood at 1.0.

A total of 22.91 million or 97.9% of the adult population have completed their vaccination, while 23.19 million individuals or 99.1% of the group have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

For adolescents aged 12-17, a total of 2.78 million individuals or 88.2% have been fully dosed, while 2.86 million individuals or 90.9% have received at least one jab. – January 20, 2022.
