A SENIOR citizen has been sentenced to six years’ jail for having carnal intercourse with an animal.

Shaari Hasan, 60, had initially pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea when the case came up for mention in the Sessions Court in Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor, today.

He has been ordered to be given counselling and placed under police probation for a year after serving his sentence.

He was charged under section 377 of the penal code with committing buggery with a goat behind a house in Kampung Sungai Buaya, Rawang, at 1.33pm on July 27.

The offence provides a maximum 20 years’ imprisonment and fine or whipping upon conviction.

Shaari has three records for molest.

Deputy public prosecutor Khairunnisa Noor Harun told the court that the animal died due to lung failure, when asked by Judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza.

During mitigation, Shaari’s lawyer Muizzudin Schanni Feizal Maurice Feizal said his client, who lives alone, is remorseful. – Bernama, December 24, 2021.
