A SENIOR narcotics officer at a District Police Headquarters in Terengganu has been remanded for six days to facilitate investigation into a bribery case.
The remand order was issued by the Kemaman magistrates’ court assistant registrar Masni Hajar Ghazali upon application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to enable further investigation under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act.
Sources said the 30-year-old suspect was alleged to have solicited and accepted a bribe of RM30,000 as an inducement to cite as a minor offence of an individual arrested under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act for drug trafficking.
He was arrested at the MACC office in Kemaman, yesterday. – Bernama, August 6, 2020.
