ACTOR and radio announcer Patrick Teoh will be charged in court tomorrow for allegedly insulting the Johor crown prince in a Facebook post.
He was arrested on May 9 after a report was lodged on his posting where the 73-year-old was believed to have shared a video clip of the Johor crown prince in military uniform and used obscenities in his Facebook comment on the matter.
The post is no longer on Teoh’s Facebook page.
Initially remanded for two days, Johor police chief commissioner Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay requested an extension of Teoh’s remand as he was not cooperating with the investigations.
Teoh was released on bail on May 14.
The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for the improper use of network facilities.
If found guilty, Teoh faces a maximum fine of RM50,000 or a jail term not exceeding one year or both. – June 13, 2020.
