HEALTH Minister Dr Adham Baba has called on those who attended a mass religious gathering, or tabligh, at Seri Petaling Mosque where a Covid-19 positive case was detected, to come forward for screening.

He said the ministry was also tracking down attendees.

“I beg those who attended the tabligh assembly in Seri Petaling to come forward for us to screen and we will do the best to make them comfortable,” he told a press conference today.

Dr Adham also said among the attendees were two Covid-19 cases detected in Kuantan and Tawau, who had close contact with the first case in Brunei.

The patient from Brunei had attended the tabligh session.

Singapore’s Minister in charge of Muslim Affairs Masagos Zulkifli said 95 of its citizens had attended the event.

He said Singapore’s Health Ministry is in the midst of investigating and identifying the Singaporean attendees.

He added that the mosque will be disinfected.

Yesterday, the ministry said it was tracing more than 5,000 Malaysians believed to have participated in the gathering.

Meanwhile, Sg Buloh Hospital, which has been designated the centre to treat the virus, said it has the capacity to treat up to 772 patients at one time.

Twelve hospitals nationwide are equipped with laboratories that can treat the virus, while there are 57 screening hospitals across the country. – March 12, 2020.
