A 60-year-old Malaysian who had attended an Islamic missionary gathering at a mosque in Seri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur last week was among those confirmed to be infected by Covid-19 today, said the Health Ministry.

The man, identified as case 131, was among 10,000 people of various nationalities who had attended the gathering from February 27 to March 1.

Yesterday, Brunei said one of its citizens had tested positive for Covid-19 after attending the gathering in Malaysia.

Earlier today, the ministry said it is tracing more than 5,000 Malaysians believed to have participated in the gathering.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Malaysian man was tested positive for the virus on March 10.

“He has already been isolated in an isolation ward and is currently receiving treatment,” Noor Hisham said in a Facebook post tonight.

He advised those who had attended the gathering to contact their nearest district health office or Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre to avoid further spread of the disease. – March 11, 2020.
