Bomb scare forces AirAsia flight to return to Kolkata

AN AirAsia India flight from Kolkata to Mumbai was forced to return and make an emergency landing after a bomb threat on Saturday, reports the Hindustan Times.

A woman, which the Indian portal named as Mohini Mondol, 25, was arrested after threatening to blow up flight I5316.

Mondol allegedly handed a note to a cabin crew 40 minutes into the flight. The note said she had bombs strapped to the body and that she would detonate them any moment.

The pilot informed the air traffic controller and returned to Kolkata airport at 11.46pm, said Hindustan Times.

A police officer told the portal that there was no bomb strapped to Mondol’s body. – January 13, 2020.
