THE sudden withdrawal of police motorcycle outriders will not deter former prime minister Najib Razak from continuing to travel to Tanjung Piai to campaign for Barisan Nasional (BN), he said.

However, the Pekan MP said he was surprised at the move.

“I didn’t know. Suddenly a letter came and no reason was given.

“I will continue my efforts in ensuring victory for BN,” Najib was reported as saying during a walkabout in Pekan Nanas today.

“I will continue my duty as usual. Inshallah, there will be no problems,” he said.

Yesterday, Bukit Aman Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department director Azisman Alias said there would be no more police outriders for Najib with immediate effect, adding that a letter was sent to Najib, to this effect.

The letter was sent to Najib’s special officer Mohd Shahrir Mohd Aripin and was made public on Facebook by his former officer Isham Jalil.

Azisman said Najib would still be able to request for outriders for official business, but not for personal or political purposes. – Bernama, November 9, 2019.
