ZURAIDA Kamaruddin’s request to have a reconciliation meeting between two factions in the PKR has been shot down by Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
The party secretary-general said there was no such things as reconciliation, as suggested by the PKR vice-president.
Zuraida had earlier complained that party president Anwar Ibrahim had not entertained multiple requests for a meeting to reconcile some of its leadership.
“We have sent three letters to the president’s office,” Zuraida had reportedly said.
She had said Anwar responded to the first letter by saying he was going on a pilgrimage to Mecca.
“We then sent a second letter and a third last Monday, to ask for a meeting between the president and certain MPP members, who were elected in the party election,” she had said.
Zuraida and several others in the party’s central leadership are aligned to deputy president Azmin Ali’s faction, and have not attended meetings following the growing estrangement between Anwar and Azmin.
Saifuddin said to date, the party had only received one letter and not three, as claimed by Zuraida.
Saifuddin reminded those who had not been attending recent party meeting that they had no excuse for their absence, especially as the dates for the meeting were made known in January.
“Everyone has a responsibility to attend, irrespective of their post in the leadership.
“The dates are made know early so that those in the administration can clear their schedules to be present for meetings,” he said. – September 2, 2019.
