POLICE today detained a person suspected of making a death threat against DAP Youth chief Howard Lee.

Perak police chief Razarudin Husain said the 30-year-old suspect was arrested after a police report was lodged.

“Police received a report and arrested an individual believed to have been behind the threat,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

The investigation is filed under Section 507 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Lee said in a statement this morning that he had received a death threat on WhatsApp.

“On Sunday, I asked my officer to make a police report. I have submitted everything to the police to investigate the death threat,” he said in the statement.

Lee, who is the Pasir Pinji assemblyman, said he welcomed differences in opinion but a threat to his life was a job for the authorities. – Bernama, August 20, 2019.
