AMANAH members are advised to always choose suitable platforms for their political activities and not to misuse educational or religious institutions for this purpose.

Its communications director Khalid Abdul Samad said party members should not use schools, mosques or surau if they wished for unity, harmony and cooperation to prevail in building the country.

“For your political activities, find suitable places. We don’t want schools, mosques or surau to be the platforms. For example, if you want to distribute (party membership application) forms, there are other places where you can do so,” he said after officiating at the opening of the SMK Seksyen 19 field in Shah Alam today.

He was earlier asked by reporters on a viralled media social posting on Amanah members in Perak allegedly distributing party membership application forms at a school in the state recently.

Khalid, however, could not ascertain the validity of the claim but nevertheless, he reminded Amanah members to always use the right platforms if they wish to be active politically so as to protect the good name of the party.

Earlier, Khalid, who is also federal territories minister, in his speech at the event said the government welcomed contributions in the form of money, skills, expertise and so on from the corporate sector to assist the community including educational and non-educational institutions.

The Shah Alam MP said this was because the local community and educational institutions faced financial constraints, thus making it difficult for them to organise programmes and activities.

“I hope for closer cooperation be forged between the corporate sector and government to the extent of it becoming a culture in developing and prospering the country,” he said. – Bernama, July 4, 2019.
