MOH reports 3,206 new Covid cases

MALAYSIA logged 3,206 new Covid-19 cases against 2,180 recoveries yesterday, ending the five-day streak of the country reporting more recoveries than fresh cases.

The cumulative cases since the onset of the pandemic now stands at 4,768,394. 

Eight deaths also were reported yesterday, of which one was declared dead on arrival (DOA). 

Selangor logged three deaths while Johor, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Perak and Kuala Lumpur had one each. 

The sole DOA case was registered in Kelantan. 

Of the new cases reported yesterday, Selangor posted the most number of cases with 1,092, followed by Kuala Lumpur (583) and Sabah (297). 

Perak logged 236 cases, Negri Sembilan (186), Sarawak (119), Malacca (114), Kedah (110), Johor (104), Penang (93), Kelantan (87), Pahang (62), Putrajaya (58), Terengganu (44), Perlis (12) and Labuan (9). 

With the new number of infections, active cases rose up to 35,988. 

Among the active cases, 34,626 (96.2%) people were under home quarantine, 22 (0.1%) at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres, and 1,271 (3.7%) at hospitals.

There were 49 patients in intensive care, 42 of whom required respiratory assistance. – August 26, 2022.
