AirAsia employee dies on KL-Bandung flight


AN AirAsia staff member died during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Bandung, Indonesia, yesterday.

Flight AK416 was diverted to Senai International Airport in Johor.

AirAsia confirmed that flight AK416 from Kuala Lumpur to Bandung was diverted to Senai airport because of a “medical emergency”.

“The AirAsia family is saddened by the loss of an Allstar and extends our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased,” it said in a statement, without disclosing the name of the 46-year-old Indonesian.

The man was given medical treatment upon landing but was later pronounced dead by a doctor on the ground.

Flight AK416 later departed from Senai at 9am and arrived in Bandung at 10.11am.

The case has been classified as sudden death. – January 25, 2018.
