Klang Valley tops Covid-19 infections, surpassing Sabah

The Klang Valley has now overtaken Sabah with the most number of cumulative Covid-19 cases, with more than 1,500 cases reported in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, December 22, 2020.

KLANG Valley has surpassed Sabah’s Covid-19 infections with 37,502 cumulative cases, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said Selangor is still reporting high daily figures, with 1,014 cases today, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 504.

Sabah, meanwhile, recorded 252 cases, putting its cumulative cases at 34,977 with only one cluster detected today.

Of the new cases, Selangor recorded its highest ever infection with 1,014 cases or 49.2% of today’s total.

Noor Hisham said more than 80% of cases in the state were from existing clusters and close contact screenings.

“Of the total number of new cases in Selangor, 887 cases or 87.5% of infections in the state are from existing clusters and active close-contact screenings,” he said.

Noor Hisham also said a total of eight new Covid-19 clusters were detected today, of which five are in the Klang Valley. – December 22, 2020.
