SEGAMBUT MP Lim Lip Eng today took Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor to task for making false claims about Taman Rimba Kiara to justify the government’s intention to develop the green lung.
“He claims that Taman Rimba Kiara is only 5.38ha and it was never gazetted. This is fake news,” Lim told reporters in front of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office in Kuala Lumpur this morning.
He said the 10ha park was originally shown as an open space in Kuala Lumpur development plans, but the land was suddenly divided into two and given lot numbers, presumably to make way for the park to be slashed in half, to accomodate eight blocks of luxury condominiums and a block of affordable homes.
The Save Taman Rimba Kiara Working Group and the Taman Tun Dr Ismail Residents Association have sought an explanation from Tengku Adnan and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) over the past few months, to no avail.
Lim said the government should not develop green lungs, even if ungazetted, such as the larger Bukit Kiara Hill in TTDI, without public consultation.
“
He also rebutted Tengku Adnan’s claim that he had engaged with TTDI residents on July 20 and August 3.
“I spoke to the TTDI Residents Association. They said this is false. Tengku Adnan should disclose who he has met.”
The association issued a point-by-point rebuttal to claims made by Tengku Adnan on Taman Rimba Kiara yesterday.
The residents have been at loggerheads with Tengku Adnan, DBKL, Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, which is headed by Tengku Adnan, and developer Memang Perkasa Sdn Bhd over the plan to develop Taman Rimba Kiara.
They are appealing for a stay order on the development after losing their bid in the Kuala Lumpur High Court last week.
Present at the MACC office today was Segambut Bersatu chief Mahathir Mohd Rais. – December 20, 2017.
