SARAWAK and Sabah are getting crumbs in development funds under Budget 2021, said Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister James Masing.

RM4.6 billion or 7.86% of the budget allocated to Sarawak in contrast to the RM46.4 billion or 82.86% for the peninsula is a reflection of “Putrajaya’s colonial power mindset towards its colonies”.

Sabah, meanwhile, is allocated RM5.2 billion or 9.28%.

The Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president said the allocations did not reflect equality of the three regions that make up Malaysia.

“Putrajaya has little regard to understanding the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), which was the basis for the formation of Malaysia.

“Putrajaya has also ignored the size and the infrastructure development needs of the two eastern states in Borneo when drawing up the budget,” he said in a reaction to the budget tabled by Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz yesterday. – AFP, November 7, 2020.
