VEVEONAH Mosibin did take her final semester exams online in June, former Sabah minister Masidi Manjun said, adding that he had verified the matter with Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

The Karanaan assemblymen, who is with Bersatu, said he met the UMS science foundation director today.

“I would like to confirm that student Vevenoah Mosibin sat for her final semester exams (online) from June 9 to June 12.

“She was an exemplary student and has been offered a Marine Science degree course in UMS,” the former Sabah tourism, culture and environment minister tweeted today.

Masidi’s tweet comes after two federal deputy ministers, Zahidi Zainul Abidin and Abdul Rahim Bakri, accused 18-year-old Veveonah of lying about taking an exam from a treetop, which was the only place she could get an internet connection.

The YouTuber had posted a video of herself doing so on June 12.

Zahidi last week told Dewan Negara that Veveonah had only done so to get attention for herself and that she had not actually taken an exam. He later apologised, but also blamed Rahim, for the information.

Rahim in a Facebook post said he had checked Veveonah’s claims and found them to be untrue after talking to a village chief and an unnamed faculty member at UMS.

Both Zahidi and Rahim, who is also Kudat MP, have been called “cyberbullies” by Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh, and there have also been calls for Zahidi to be referred to the rights and privileges committee for giving false information in the Senate. – September 8, 2020.
