CHARGES against Lim Guan Eng this morning are “dirty politics”, aimed to tarnish the former finance minister and bring down DAP and subsequently, the Pakatan Harapan coalition, said his son, Marcus.

Taking to Facebook last night, the 25-year-old accused the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government of framing Guan Eng, but vowed to fight back against dirty politics.

Marcus said the family had expected this since the fall of the PH government in late February.

Guan Eng’s wife, Betty Chew, uploaded a blackout image in her social media with “God is watching”.

Guan Eng was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) last night and will be charged in Kuala Lumpur today for his alleged involvement in the RM6.3 billion Penang undersea tunnel project.

He is also expected to face further charges in Penang next week.

“Their plan is simple, to frame and capture those leaders who wouldn’t bow down to their dirty scheme.

“They thrive on dirty politics, making the right wrong, and the wrong right. Unfortunately, this is how politics work here,” Marcus said in his post.

He ended the post with: “Don’t worry, We will fight back.”

Guan Eng will be charged under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act for “corruptly soliciting, receiving or giving any gratification as an inducement”.

He was previously questioned thrice by the MACC over the Penang undersea tunnel project.

Reports indicated that the Bagan MP will also be charged in connection with his 2015 purchase of a double-storey bungalow in Penang when he was the state chief minister.

It was also reported that business executive Phang Li Koon, who had sold the house to Guan Eng for RM2.8 million, had been called by the MACC to have her statement recorded. – August 7, 2020.

  • Haha, the efficiency is really beyond standard.. I wonder if the same efficiency will apply to other cases, including the recent resurfaced MARA apartment purchases in Australia..

  • The MACC under Azam Baki is a standing joke.
I wonder when bodies will start flying out of the MACC building again since he seems intent on restoring the MACC to its former 'glory'.
