LIM Guan Eng is back for the third round of questioning at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters over the Penang undersea tunnel project.

The former finance minister, accompanied by lawyer R.S.N. Rayer, arrived at the MACC building in Putrajaya at 10.45am. The duo headed straight inside without speaking to reporters.

Yesterday, Lim was questioned for seven hours, leaving the anti-graft agency’s office only at 7.50pm.

The DAP secretary-general, who was supposed to begin recording his statement at 10am yesterday, arrived three hours late as his vehicle broke down on the North-South Expressway near Simpang Pulai, Perak.

On Wednesday, he was grilled for six hours.

MACC earlier this month quizzed Chow Kon Yeow, who succeeded Lim as Penang chief minister.

Allegations of corruption concerning the project were first raised by Malaysia Today blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, a former PKR member.

In February and March last year, he alleged that then chief minister Lim and state excos participated in “criminal collaboration” and received kickbacks in relation to the project.

The excos already questioned by MACC are Jagdeep Singh Deo, who holds the local government portfolio, Chong Eng (women and family development), Phee Boon Poh (community and welfare) and Lim Hock Seng (works, utilities and transport).

Former exco Abdul Malik Abul Kassim, who was in charge of Islamic affairs, has also had his statement recorded. – July 26, 2020.
