Amanah ministers make cut to party central committee

ALL five Amanah ministers have been voted into the party’s 27-member central committee tonight.

Also making the cut are its four of its five deputy ministers and several big names from its state leadership.

Mohamad Sabu (defence), Salahuddin Ayob (agriculture and agro-based industries), Khalid Samad (federal territories), Dr Dzulkelfy Ahmad (health) and Mujahid Yusof Rawa (Prime Minister’s Department) were joined by deputy ministers Hanipa Maidin, Dr Hatta Ramli, Mahfuz Omar and Raja Kamarul Bahrin Raja Ahmad Baharuddin.

Hanipa is in the Prime Minister’s Department, Hatta is in the Entrepreneur Development Ministry, Raja Kamarul Bahrin in Housing and Mahfuz in Human Resources.

Deputy Works Minister Annuar Tahir was not chosen.

The 14 state chiefs, and the heads of Amanah’s Wanita and Youth wings complete the committee, which will choose the five top posts in the party: president, deputy president and three vice presidents.

The 27 were voted in by 823 delegates at the party’s inaugural elections in Shah Alam tonight.

There were 87 candidates running for the 27 seats.

Of the 27, Khalid, who is also party information chief, received 786 votes, followed by Mahfuz (780), Salahuddin (765), Mujahid (755) and Hatta (725).

Mahfuz and Mujahid are among the three out-going vice-presidents, while Salahuddin is party deputy president.

The out-going president Mohamad, polled 683 votes to come in at seventh place behind Dr Dzulkefly at 687 votes.

Malacca chief minister Adly Zahari, Selangor exco member Siti Mariah and Raja Kamarul Bahrin came in at eight, ninth and 10th place respectively.

The 17 other committee members are: Abang Kerdee, Prof Ahmad Tarmizi, Asmuni Awi, Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus, Mariam Abdul Rashid, Mazlan Aliman, Nizar Jamaluddin, Sany Hamzan, Hatta Ramli, Dr Muhaimi Sulam, Faiz Fadhil, Nik Omar Nik Aziz, Fahrolrazi Zawawi, Ridhuan Abu Bakar, Suhaizan Kaiat, Wan Rahim Wan Abdullah and Zukarnain Abidin. – December 6, 2019.
