Asri insists Muslims bullied under Pakatan

MOHD Asri Zainul Abidin maintains that Muslims are being bullied under Pakatan Harapan, after Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad ticked off the Perlis mufti who accused Putrajaya of silence over remarks allegedly “offensive to Muslims”.

Asri said there had been a lot of news today about Dr Mahathir’s statement last night suggesting that the mufti is deaf to what Putrajaya had been doing for Islam.

“Anyone who can listen to the concerns of the people, that is the reality being voiced by all levels of Muslim society in the country. I am unsure who is the deaf one,” Asri posted on Facebook this morning in response to Dr Mahathir’s remarks last night.

Dr Mahathir last night labelled the mufti “deaf” while defending Putrajaya’s Islamic credentials.

“If he could hear, we do many things for Muslims and Islam but he does not hear it,” he was quoted as saying last night.

Dr Mahathir’s reply followed Asri’s post yesterday suggesting that the current administration practised double standards, after the arrest of Muhammad Zamri Vinoth Kalimuthu over remarks allegedly insulting Hinduism.

Asri said there are various statements made by individuals who are in the government who insulted Muslims and caused racial tension but were only called to give their statements.

“How many who insulted Prophet Muhammad and insulted the teachings of Islam were only called to give their statements?

“But they arrested a person who simply recounted his personal experience of converting to Islam in a mosque.

“Were his facts wrong or was he insulting, or just telling a story of himself?”

Asri today produced a signed copy of Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s 2011 autobiography – A Doctor in the House.

The inscription urged the mufti to speak the truth always.

“Never ignore the truth due to fear. A true struggle is not without challenges and opposition,” Dr Mahathir said in the flyleaf.

Asri said he would hold fast to the advice given to him by Dr Mahathir even if it went against the government led by him. – April 30, 2019.

  • Its the other way round, you deaf and dumb Mufti. You have been used by Zakir Naik to incite hatred, Mr Wahabbi.

  • The Pakatan Harapan government should repudiate his statement by proving him wrong. Thereafter action should be taken to refrain him from spreading venomous falsehoods which causes tension in society.

  • If this Mufti is supporting his dearest student of Zakir Naik then he needs to be haul up for questioning. It shows that he is not a pious cleric and a exmplary role but instead an association to terrorism. He is collabrating so blantantly with Zakir Naik and pushing very hard for Malays to be into Wahabism. He is going all out for a full Islamic Caliphate where the Buggerdadi of ISIS will be welcome to Malaysia shore. This is really dangerous and PH Government has to react. To the Muslim Political Leaders in PH stop using Zakir Naik in your chess play. Rakyat can see thru' that ploy !!!!!

  • Please ask him, how many Muslim bodies have been snatched right in front of their families?
How many Muslim children have been unilaterally converted to other religions?
    Who is bullying who?

  • What about not just remarks but actual actions that are offensive to non-Muslims? Innocent children in schools were told to "balik Cina, balik India". Again innocent school children were made to have their meals in the school washrooms during Ramadan. A gang of rowdies trespassed into a convenience store in Manjung and threatened the storekeeper that the beer bottles would be broken up if not removed. A golf club president imposed his personal condition that beer could not be sold in the club. What about Riduan Tee hammering the non-Muslims through his weekly columns in the press? What about Zakir Naik condemning the non-Muslim religions? These and many more are actual actions. Do these not amount to some bigoted Muslims bullying the non-Muslims? Asri should give clear instances of the Muslims being bullied by the non-Muslims. He should not be talking based on hearsay. Today, there are a lot of "sensitivities" feigned by certain sections of Muslims, and wild accusations levelled at non-Muslims for "threatening Islam". As a religious man, he should not join the chorus of "threatening Islam" without detailing out the threats which should be real and not imagined.
