MACC arrests Ku Nan

TENGKU Adnan Tengku Mansor has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The former Federal Territories minister, better known as Ku Nan, was detained upon his arrival at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya about 3pm today.

MACC sources confirmed that he will be held overnight and charged tomorrow over allegedly dubious land deals involving Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

Last month, Tengku Adnan said MACC had called him up 12 times to provide information on DBKL land transactions under the previous Barisan Nasional administration.

The former Umno secretary-general had also told Parliament that he had nothing to do with the approval of land sales in Kuala Lumpur during his time as minister.

“When I took over the ministry in 2013, I handed over land matters to the Prime Minister’s Department. I had nothing to do with any approval concerning land in the Federal Territory.

“Many people said I was not called up by MACC. Actually, I was called up 12 times and I provided them with whatever information I had.”

MACC has formed a task force to probe into 97 transactions worth RM5.63 billion, involving 273.27ha of DBKL land.

In a statement issued by MACC later in the day, the commission said the Attorney-General’s Chambers has given consent to prosecute Tengku Adnan and businessmen Tan Eng Boon on matters related to the sale of DBKL land.

The commission confirmed that Tengku Adnan was arrested at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya around 3.25pm today.

He will be jointly charged with Tan at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court at 2.30pm tomorrow, said MACC. – November 14, 2018.
